Artist's Statement
I believe having pictures on walls finishes each room, especially if you love to look closely at the images, as I do. These paintings - of places of significance, beautifully produced with appealing colors - stir the pride of owning an original work of art.
I paint familiar locales that people recognize whether close by, places remembered or sites they may wish to visit one day. I most love painting landscapes and choose watercolors because of their clean look, the way the color blends and the vibrancy of the hues.
My style is straightforward; it has been called "representational", which I take to mean that you will recognize what it is I have painted. I use warm colors with strong notes of pure pigment. I know when my work is complete because I say "yes" to my own question, "Does this picture have a real sense of place?"
I hope my work pleases you enough to say, "I just love this painting. I am so glad it's mine!"
